Mental Health:
The very
first thing, which we all need to know, is that what it means actually. So, a
mentally fit or healthy man/woman is someone who is physically, emotionally, psychologically
and socially strong. Mental health affects how we think, feel and react. It
also helps us to determine how we handle stress, behave to others, and make
healthy choices in our life. Mental health is important at every stage of life,
from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.
Now,
according to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is “a state of
well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope
with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is
able to make a contribution to his or her community.
Mental Health Problems:
Now, first we
need to understand mental health problems which include your thinking pattern,
mood swings, and behaviour and all could be affected. Many factors contribute
to mental health problems, including:
- Family history of mental health problems.
- Poor diet and self-carelessness.
- Biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry.
- Fear, lack of understanding, Negativity.
- Life experiences, such as trauma or abuse.
- Stressful life situations, such as financial problems, a loved one's death or a separation.
- On-going medical condition getting worsen day by day.
These are
some of the most common factors. Mental health problems are common but help,
guidance is available to deal with it. People with mental health problems can
get better and many recover completely.
Warning Sign or Symptoms of
Mental Health:
We can’t
judge or can be sure about ourselves or the person we know is living with
mental health problems? Experiencing one or more of the following feelings or
behaviours can be an early warning sign of a mental health problems:
- Lack of self-confidence.
- Having low or no energy
- Feeling numb or like nothing matters, always tend to feel dull
- Eating or sleeping too much or too little
- Smoking, drinking, or using drugs more than usual
- Feeling helpless or hopeless
- Feeling unusually confused, forgetful, on edge, angry, upset, worried, or scared
- Yelling or fighting with family and friends
- Weakened immune system, so your body has a hard time resisting infections
- Having unexplained aches and pains
- Hearing voices or believing things that actually doesn’t exist
- Experiencing severe mood swings that cause problems in relationships
- Having persistent negative thoughts and memories you can't get out of your head
- Thinking of harming yourself or others
- Confused thinking or reduced ability to concentrate
- Inability to perform daily tasks like taking care of your kids or getting to work or school
And there are many other symptoms as well, but the point is one can’t be sure about his/her mental condition and even if others warn them they don’t even get ready to listen to them. So this is a very serious issue and shouldn’t be ignored at any cost. so.......
Now, question
arises, how can we take care of our mental health? So here we have some ways
with which one can take care of his/her mental health.
Ways to maintain positive
mental health include:
- Always try to stay positive and energised.
- Always read, think and see the positive thoughts.
- Keep yourself fully surrounded by the positive, fruitful, happy, cheerful people/friends.
- Getting doctor’s/ professional help if someone need it
- Social connectivity with others.
- Be physically active, do some regular exercises.
- Always try to help the needy.
- Get enough sleep and rest
- Take a very good self-care can help you to manage stress, lower your risk of illness, and boost your energy. Even small acts of self-care in your daily life can have a big impact.
- Developing coping skills, yes this is one of the way to get rid of mental problem, but the important point is copy always good, positive people and good things.
